 Transformer oil maintenance is the key to transformer reliability. When transformer oil ages, it reduces a transformer's life. Oil ultimately begins to break down due to foreign particles and impurities such as water and gases. When transformer oil reaches this stage it must be changed or reclaimed. Transformer oil reclamation returns transformer oil to like-new condition. Transformer dehydration removes moisture from the transformer components, insulation and oil. Transformer degasification removes dissolved gases from the oil and transformer.
A DYMAX transformer fluid analysis of insulating oil will detect the presence of acids, moisture, dissolved gases, particulate matter and sludge. Interpretation of the test results determines the appropriate corrective procedure.
